Japanese students in Vietnam learn about sustainable urban development in Binh Duong New City
On October 9, 2025, ninety-five fourth-grade students from Japanese School in Ho Chi Minh City (Ho Chi Minh Nihonjin Gakkō) visited Binh Duong New City.
The purpose of the visit was to deepen their understanding of a circular economy by observing real-life examples of recycling initiatives they had learned about at school.
The students first visited the BECAMEX TOKYU GALLERY, where they learned about Becamex Tokyu’s sustainable urban development efforts in Binh Duong New City.
They then toured the Compost Room at Hikari, a commercial project of Becamex Tokyu. There, they learned how waste food from restaurants and cafés is composted and reused in Aquaponics (fish-and-plant cultivation system) and Edible Landscape, creating a model for sustainable living.
The final stop was Pizza 4P’s Hikari, a restaurant striving to become Vietnam’s first zero-waste restaurant. The students listened attentively as staff explained the environmentally friendly practices and sustainability initiatives implemented through food and restaurant operations.
Through this experience, we hope the children are inspired to think about the environment and a circular society as something relevant to their own lives.
Becamex Tokyu will continue to promote sustainable urban development together with the next generation through such educational and community initiatives.
